There’s a lake in a remote area of Outer Mongolia called Lake Khovsgul. It’s 100 miles long and 25 miles wide. In winter the surface of the lake freezes over as temperatures can get as low as -40c.

In March, I will be one of 12 people from around the world who will be taking part in an ultra race called Mongol 100. I will attempt to ice skate approximately a marathon distance each day for 4 days; 100 miles in total.

This is only the second time this event has taken place and to date, only one ice skater has completed the distance.

I set out to take on this Challenge over 2 years old now but the pandemic has prevented the event taking place until now.  I have been undertaking specific training, and preparing for the freezing conditions - including learning how to skate on ice. I’ve never skated in my life before!

Strathcarron Hospice and Labrador Retriever Rescue Scotland will benefit from your sponsorship and I know these guys are dependent more than ever on fundraisers due to the pandemic restrictions.
