Hello everyone
For 8 days in August, David, Alex and Victoria will attempt to scale Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, which rises to a majestic 5,895 metres.
From sleepless nights to gale-force winds, we will fight our way through rainforests, navigate through glaciers, battle altitude sickness and survive in temperatures of minus 20 C in our quest to conquer Africa's highest mountain.
Despite all of the above, our aim is to raise a mountain of cash for Forever Angels, a charity that cares for abandoned, orphaned and HIV positive children in Tanzania.
There are thousands of orphaned and abandoned children in Africa, often due to AIDS. In Tanzania, about 10% of the population carry the HIV virus. As a result of this, many babies and young children lose their mothers whilst still nursing. Other parents are simply too sick or too poor to care for their children.
Traditionally, their extended family would help support these vulnerable children, but with the AIDS epidemic effectively stripping away this support network, more and more of these babies are remaining in families that are simply unable to care for them and so they often die from starvation or disease.
Forever Angels Baby Home is dedicated to looking after and giving love to young orphaned and abandoned infants who have no one else to care for them.
Examples of how your donation will be used:
£10 would cover a child's medical expenses including childhood immunisations for a month.
£20 would feed a child for a month.
£100 would cover the cost of total care for a child for a month.
