As three novice hikers we have decided to push ourselves to the limit to undertake the three peak challenge in just 24 hours!  The peaks are the three highest mountains in the UK (Ben Nevis in Scotland; Scarfell Pike in England and Snowden in Wales) so there will be no sleeping for us - apart from 40 winks in the back of a mini-bus between each mountain!

 

We have decided to take up this challenge to raise money for the MS Society as a close friend's mother has been battling primary progressive MS for 10 years.  His father has taken early retirement to look after her, as over the last few years her condition has deteriorated to the point that she is completely paralysed, being unable to move, eat or even talk.  She has recently spent time in a specialist MS respite centre which helps to give families a break from the pressures of having to care for MS sufferers on a daily basis.

 

MS is the most common disabling neurological condition, with over 100,000 people affected in the UK.  There is no known cure for MS and research continues into all aspects of the condition.  We are looking to raise money to help with the research of MS and to help support the specialist care centres that are a lifeline to so many families.
