Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

As you may know I am hoping to set a land speed record at Bonneville speed week this August

We have now returned from Bonneville I'm sorry the blog wasn't updated -I was let down by the web guy.  And now he has withdrawn it. So here is a some further news.  We we ran faster than the record but not in the right part of the course. I have logs of 15 seconds worth 200+ Mph wheelspin and God knows I tried. The fundamental issues are that you have to run at the record for a whole mile (not just through a 60' trap like we do at Woodbridge). We exceeded the record many times but could not get the average for long enough or in the right part of the course. Finally we ran out of time. The other issue is that we were not carrying enough nitrous. I was emptying 2, 2lb bottles compleatly. The way the bike is set up meant it went no nitrous 85hp shot 2nd 85hp shot. On the day the 1st bottle ran out (with the second still operating) making us go rich then the 2nd bottle ran out making us go even richer. The bike was amazing though because once I realised what was happening on the run I just deactivated the nitrous and it coughed and ran clean and strong to the line (course by now I'm slowing down). If we had realised this early enough in the week (we spent 5 days getting the correct licence) we could have tried to graft on a 10lb bottle on and then We'd have easily done it. So I guess its close but no cigar. A few facts and figures. We did 15 runs of 3 miles or more -10 of them at full chat, I used 10 full bottles of nitrous, ran over 200mph 4 times in the correct trap, exceeded the record on 8 occasions and the bike is still running!. We were the fastest bike on our designated course and were also the only bike team to go from rooky to A licence (ie allowed to go up to 250) during race week. BTW we drove the support vehicles over 500 miles just on the salt Let me just take a moment to thank the crew -a typical day was up at 5am on the salt by 6am getting back to the hotel at 8pm. In the early part of the week we were queing for 3 hours a run. Brad O'Conner was my cyberspace guru tuning the map from 5000 miles away at all hours of the day and night I might say. So of course I have unfinished buisness on the salt I bet you can guess what that means......... Finally Please see if you can donate to the RDA charity its a good cause and I'd like to get nearer the target amount
