Story

We are running the Birmingham Fun Run at Cannon Hill Park on 13th Sept.  OK, so it's only 5km but if you know us well you will also know that we don't do much in the way of exercise!

We want to raise as much money as possible for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust - a charity we fell in love with when we visited their elephant orphanage in Nairobi.  The teams in Kenya have been called on for 27 orphan elephant rescues in 2009 - that's more than the whole of 2007 and 2008 combined.  This rapid, worrying and frankly depressing increase is being attributed to the legalised sale of ivory to China, which has re-opened the floodgates for the illegal ivory trade.  This influx of orphans means that the charity needs more money for rescues, life saving medicines, natural remedies, milk and accommodation - and this brings us back to the fun run. . .

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they never use your details or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it is the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.  With love and thanks from Nad and Loretta x

About the charity

Our Teams work to protect Kenya's wildlife and habitats through Anti-Poaching operations, Community Outreach, Mobile Veterinary support and the rescue and rehabilitation of elephant and rhino orphans so that they can return to the wild when grown. With your help, we can save more wild lives.
