Story

Should I or should I not run naked for 5km in Kent on May 18th? A friend suggested, as a joke, that I should take part in this 5km naked race as part of the 1000km challenge I set myself. I'm raising funds for a paediatric oncology unit looking after 250 children with cancer in Balantyre, Malawi for my son, Sacha's remembrance fund with World Child Cancer (more about that here: http://www.justgiving.com/1000KmforSacha ). But I'm in two minds. Some friends have been very enthusiastic others have said they'd pay money for me to keep my clothes on!  So I thought I'd leave it up to you. Here's how you can help me to decide:

  • If you'd like me to do the race please make a donation, however small and in the comments section write : "Go Naked". If this wins I will post evidence of completion of the challenge. Frankly, I'd rather I didn't have to do this so I'd urge you to take the next option.
  • If you think that actually, it would be better all round that I didn't run this event (let's face it, its a bit embarrassing for all concerned, my mum doesn't like the idea) then please make a donation and in the comments section write: "Kit on thank you". I encourage you to vote for this option.
  • To make a simple text vote with a small donation of £1 to £10 text : NUDE95 £? to 70070 e.g. NUDE95 £3 to 70070. If you are unable to post a comment it will be assumed that you fall in the Go Naked camp but you should be directed to a link that allows you to leave a message when you get a text stating that giftaid has been added.
  • Share this with friends and encourage them to vote for one of the above options. I'd like the sample size to be large enough so that I get a fully representative view.
I will add up the value of those in the 'Go Naked' camp vs the 'Kit on thank you' crowd at 9pm on Friday 16th May. This is a bit of fun but every pound goes to help children who really need it at the project in Malawi. There's no real target here, anything I raise is a bonus, but I'd really like to reach £308 for this specific challenge which would provide nursing care for 20 children on the ward for a month.
