We help veterans and their families to live the life they deserve after service

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

We are aiming to complete a number of challenges with the aim to raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes.

Help for Heroes is still a relatively new charity - launched in October 2007 by a group of friends and service relations who wished to do something to help the wounded coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq. Help for Heroes have called for the people of the United Kingdom to show their support and affection for ‘our heroes’ and their call has been heard throughout Britain. To date Help for Heroes has raised £17 million or £1million a month to support the Service Men and Women. Our young men and women of the Armed Forces will say that they are not heroes, they will tell you that they are just doing their job. These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things and some of them are living with the consequences of their service for life.

We may not be able to prevent our service men and women from being wounded, but together we can help them get better.

Our Dad was in the army whilst we were growing up and he has been away on 6 month tours numerous of times. He is still working out in Iraq now. Fortunately, he has never been wounded, but there are so many service men and women who haven't been so lucky. We believe that Help for Heroes is such a worthwhile charity and we really hope we can raise as much money as possible for them.

The three challenges are listed below. We are doing Kilimanjaro and the marathon together but I (Natasha) am doing the Great North Run on my own. We have organised our travel, flights, training etc ourselves.

We trekked to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro - we reached the summit at Uhuru Peak 5895m above Sea Level at 6am on 5th September 2009.

I (Natasha) completed the BUPA Great North Run on Sunday 20th September 2009 in 2 hours and 29 seconds.

Vikki completed the Royal Parks half Marathon in London on Sunday 11th October in 2 hours and 2 minutes.

Finally, together we are going to take part in the Walt Disney World Marathon in Florida on Sunday 10th January 2010. Unfortunately due to unavoidable circumstances, we are not able to participate in the Florida marathon. However, we are now registered to compete in the Barcelona Marathon instead on Sunday 7th March. Flights and hotel booked so no turning back now.

We both completed Barcelona marathon on Sunday 7th March 2010. Natasha finished in 3 hours and 49 minutes and Vikki finished in 4 hours 33 minutes.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please dig deep and sponsor us now! Just to clarify - your sponsorship could cover all 3 events or just 1, it's up to you. We won't be asking for more money each time, we are just setting up one page for all 3 challenges.

Many thanks for your support :-) We will keep updating this page as each event passes and log our successes.
