Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. If you have come this far please take a moment to read my story and be inspired to hit that donate button.

I am the Centre Coordinator for the Ivybridge Donkey Sanctuary. I simply love my job and the charity I work for. We are a donkey assisted riding therapy centre for children with additional needs. Each week, over 150 children visit our centre with their schools to ride, groom and care for our beautiful, gentle and patient donkeys. All of our services are free of charge and we do not receive any government funding. The Donkey Sanctuary is such a special place to work and since joining the charity in 2014, I have been inspired to take on a personal challenge to help raise vital funds for the work we do. Our Centre is filled daily with fun, laughter, personal achievements from our children with additional needs and also home to 18 happy, well cared for donkeys. I want to help ensure this continues.

3 years ago I could not run 400 meters around my local park without stopping. So I kept going out and trying, until I could run around it. What next? Well I kept going until I could run around it twice. Then one day, after many laps, I finally had the confidence to leave the safety of the park and headed out into the public streets. Since then I have completed a 10K and Half Marathon, both raising money for charity. Although I will admit I use far more determination than actual technique to cross the finishing lines.

I am taking on the challenge of a full marathon, simply because it is one of the most hardest challenges I could have set myself. Months and months of hard work training are going into preparing for this marathon. Long runs on dark evenings in wet weather, aching legs, sore feet and endless pounding of tarmac are all part of the preparation. Along with determination and sheer grit, I WILL complete this London Marathon with a smile on my face at the end and hopefully raise as much money as I possibly can for The Donkey Sanctuary.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Please give what you can to help me help this amazing charity provide the unique therapy services to children with additional needs as well as providing a home for life for thousands of unwanted donkeys.
