NCS Group 306 Camp Out
Fundraising for Step by Step
Story
We are group 306 of NCS; NCS is a government funded 3 week experience that helps build your confidence and self belief so that you can take on anything in life, live away from home, develop skills and meet amazing people. As part of our second week we planned a social action, so that we could give back to our local community.
We are all lucky enough to have welcoming homes but understand that there are many young people just like us that are less fortunate. Our aim is to raise money for Step By Step a local charity that supports young people who are going through hard times. They take a unique step by step approach, providing accommodation, personal development opportunities, and specialist support services. The charities main mission is to empower young people and prevent homelessness.
On Monday 23rd July we will undertake a 24 hour ‘camp out’ to experience the struggles of being homeless. This will involve making a basic shelter and sleeping outside with just sleeping bags. We hope this experience will show us how lucky and privileged we all our to have homes, when so many don’t have this luxury. We will also be visiting the Step By Step HQ in Aldershot to talk to them about the work they do and how your donations will help.
We are hoping to raise £600 on this page with support from family and friends. With as little as £3 Step By Step can provide a social activity for one young person, with £20 they could cover the cost of registering a young person to learn through AQA, £29 enables Step By Step to accommodate a young person for one night and £514 could provide accommodation and access to a full range of support to a young person for one week.
