NCS Team Fifi are fundraising for Autism East Midlands and YMCA Derbyshire (if you want your donation to go to YMCA Derbyshire, please speak to a member of our team as this charity is not registered on justgiving). We are doing several events including a coffee morning, car wash, sponsored sleep out and sponsored makeover for the guys in the group, where they are turned into drag queens.

We are a group of 13 young adults currently volunteering for the National Citizen Service programme, based at Derby College, which aims to increase the social awareness of young people in Derbyshire and teach them valuable life skills which they will require to be successful in the working world. As part of the programme, the young people must fundraise and then donate their time to undertake a social action project for a local charity. Our team’s chosen charities are YMCA Derbyshire and Autism East Midlands.

We are writing on behalf of YMCA Derbyshire, which helps the young homeless population of Derbyshire, and Autism East Midlands, which provides quality care for those affected by autism. The vision of YMCA Derbyshire is “for every young person to develop to their full potential and for local communities and individuals to achieve”. The vision of Autism East Midlands is “A world which recognises, understands and values people with autism, and where they, and their families, receive the services and support they need throughout their lives”. After meeting and attending sessions with many Derbyshire-based charities, as part of our course, we have chosen our charities. Once chosen we then must proceed to fundraise for the charities, and this is where we would be incredibly grateful for your support.

We really do appreciate each and every donation as we believe these two causes are very worthwhile. Your money will go towards renovating the allotments for the users of Autism East Midland's services, and refirbing the pool table in YMCA Derbyshire's social area amongst other things.
