Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I lost my mum to cancer in August 2004 after a very short illness. My family were lucky in that we were able to care for mum at home but this was only with the excellent and invaluable support from the Ellenor Foundation. This charity provides hospice care in the home for children and adults living with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

I am therefore both delighted and privileged to be running the London Marathon on April 22nd 2007 for the Ellenor Foundation as I believe it is the first time they have been able to offer a place. I am in training as you will see from the above picture taken at the Brands Hatch Half Marathon which was my first race for years!

I will keep you updated on my progress during the weeks before the race and would ask  for your support in raising funds for this charity. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. The Ellenor Foundation Ltd will receive your money faster and if you are a UK taxpayer an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no extra cost.

If however you prefer to send me a cheque please make it payable to Ellenor Foundation and send it to me c/o Leonard Curtis, One Great Cumberland Place, London, W1H 7LW. I will then put a message of thanks on this page.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks in advance for your support

Regards

Neil

26/3 Still running but think my chances of winning may have gone out of the window. My knees have decided that this isn't much fun so I have had to reduce the miles for the last ten days which is not ideal. On the plus side I have been referred to a specialist who thinks he can rebuild me a bit like Steve Austin but for about £40. Off later in the week for some warm weather training and hoping that beach running suits me better.

2/4 Knees no better think so think I may have to ask for my forty quid back. Found the racetrack which means I can run on softer ground but also in the rain as it is chucking it down here. Have tried the beach but there are too many rocks in the way so for the time being its me and the horses.

4/4 Knees much better today and I was keeping up with the horses. Will up the miles on thursday as will be too busy watching the cricket tomorrow.

18/4 Back from hols but knees have rejected me. Will stop whining about them now and just concentrate on getting round. Special thanks to Tony Poole for my race t-shirt and I will give you details of my race number etc later in the week for my fothcoming appearance on the BBC.

20/4 Nearly there now and am a little nervous. In case you want to try to spot me as I don't think I will be on the podium, I will be wearing an orange/yellow t shirt with my name in big letters on the front. My number is 49404 and if you are up in town for the race I will have my mobile with me so give me a call or a text so I can find you.

22/4 Done it in 4-45 and feel ok. More tomorrow.
