Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
My wife Sophie has a genetic illness: Primary Biliary Chirrhosis. PBC is a chronic disease that can, little by little, destroy some of the tubes linking your liver to your gut. When PBC damages your bile ducts, bile can no longer flow through them. Instead it builds up in the liver, damaging the liver cells and causing inflammation and scarring. The liver becomes less able to repair itself, leading to a condition known as cirrhosis. There is no cure as yet for PBC
After eight years of the disease, Sophie was lucky enough to have been placed on the Liver transplant list. In 2002 Sophie received a new liver in the Royal Free Hospital just in time. Six years on she is doing very well and leading a normal life needing only quarterly check ups and a few anti rejection pills a day!
I have been involved with the British Liver Trust for a few years as a Trustee and in 2007 became vice chairman. As such I am confident that any money donated to them is spent wisely and effectively in helping people, like Sophie, who have liver disease.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Liver Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
