Story

IT'S OVER! THE ROWING, RUNNING AND AN EXTRA CYCLE EVENT ARE COMPLETED AND I'M EXHAUSTED! To everyone who has kindly donated I'm really very, very grateful and we have raised a large sum for a very worthwhile charity.

For those "doubters" waiting to see if I could accomplish my goals before donating this is your final call! Please dig deep and send today.

Back on 6th Dec 2008 I set out to Row (using an indoor Ergo "Concept 2 Rowing machine) from Lands End to John O'Groats which according to Google map is a distance of (1,347km - approx. 850 miles) and during the same period run from Exeter to John O'Groats (880km - approx. 550 miles).

FINAL UPDATE 3:

I'm delighted to inform you that I finished the row on September 27th and the running on October 10th. To add a bit of variety yesterday (1st Nov) I completed the "Exmoor Beast" a 100km cycle around the hills of North Devon. The weather was horrid and it took me over 6 hours!

Weight steady at 13 Stone 7lb and BMI: 18%

Please see below progress to date:

UPDATE 2:

Sun 26th Apr 09: Delighted to inform you I have now rowed 715km (over half way) and weigh 13St 7lb and body fat now 18.5%! Running is also when on track for an earlier than expected finish as I want to complete both by the end of August.

Having had a minor op for a varicose vein (the joys of getting old!) I was unable to exercise for 12 days but delighted to be still well ahead of schedule. My concern now is that I'm behind on sponsorship.... With this in mind I'm really hoping for a fresh surge following this latest update. Will update again end of June. Thanks, Nick.

UPDATE 1:

Mon 5th Jan 09: Rowed 85K so far and I now weigh 14st 1lb and have a body fat of 21%. I hope by end March to be a lot fitter and weigh around 13st 10lb and have a body fat of below 18%. Took a few days off over Christmas but this means more effort to catch up as I still have 1,262km to go - or 115km per month!

My chosen charity is: Wooden Spoon. My love of Rugby ties in nicely with their annual events and I would be extremely grateful if you can donate a small amount as I appreciate that times are hard and we all receive many calls for our hard earned cash. My target of £2,500 is therefore very realistic given I have 11 months to go and I promise to keep you updated regularly!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me.
Wooden Spoon gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now and spare a thought the next time you are on the sofa with a beer or cuppa that I'm on the rower or out running!

Thanks Nick.
