Imagine being 18 and losing your life in an instant. Imagine if that person was your friend. The symptoms of meningitis are so slight that it can difficult to see it coming before it's too late. What strikes me about this disease is the young age of those it most frequently affects. Bacterial meningitis is most common amongst children under five years of age, particularly babies under the age of one. It's also typical among teenagers aged 15 to 19.
