Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are 7 nurses who work on the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Manchester's St Mary's Hospital. Louise Sage, Belinda Wyatt, Claire Hughes, Liz Dart, Sam Dixon, Ian Clark and Laura Mallinson. On our unit we nurse a variety of babies - babies that are born poorly with medical or surgical conditions and premature babies that are born early. At times, these babies can be born 4 months early and can weigh less than 1lb: that is even less than a bag of sugar!
As the babies on our unit are born critically ill they can be in hospital for a long time. In some cases they have to spend the first 7 or 8 months of their lives on our unit therefore it is essential that we help them to develop. We want to raise money to buy a portable multisensory unit with fiber optic lights, bubbles and sounds and some laser light projectors. This equipment will help to engage, entertain and aid the development of the babies on our unit.
Day in and day out we see these babies surviving against the odds and we see the fight they go through to do this. Their strength is our inspiration to complete this challenge.
Have a look at the photos in our gallery, meet the NICU three peaks team but more importantly meet some of our baby friends from the unit who this equipment will greatly benefit!
Every single pound donated will help make a baby's life better so please donate what you can!
