So, I’ve signed up to The London Triathlon on
Sunday 8
th August to raise money for Ovacome.
Excellent start.
BUT, I’m not sure I had fully realised
how long each section of the ‘Olympic’ length triathlon was!
(I really did think it would be a bit
of a swim, jump on the bike, and a jog to finish! I was wrong…I should have
guessed from the name ‘Olympic’!)
Step 1 - 1500m swimming (0.9miles) – or 60 lengths of a swimming pool!
starting to wish i had my 100m swim badge now!!
Step 2 - 40km cycling (25 miles) – For Cheltonians, that’s 5 miles short of cycling to
Swindon, or 1 mile short of a marathon!
Step 3 - 10km running (6 miles) – Under normal circumstances the thought of running 6
miles doesnt seem that bad, but have you seen Steps 1 and 2?!
But the pain will be worth it, as I
will be raising money (hopefully lots of it!) for Ovacome, and in order to do
that I need YOUR support.
Ovacome www.ovacome.org.uk
is a UK-wide network,
supporting everyone affected by Ovarian Cancer.
It is a charity my family and I have
been involved with since my mum’s fight with cancer.
Ovacome provided us with an incredible
network of information and support, helping to pull my mum through a difficult time, and for
that I will always be thankful.
Ovacome helps to raise awareness of ovarian cancer,
as well as providing a support network for ovarian cancer sufferers and their
families. All of the money I raise will directly contribute towards running the
telephone helpline, producing the factsheets and information booklets, holding
annual Members Days and supporting vital medical research.
Every penny you donate will help Ovacome to support
all those affected by ovarian cancer. Any amount, big or small, would be truly
appreciated and will help raise the profile of Ovacome and awareness of Ovarian
Cancer.
Thank you in advance (and dig deep!)
Love Nikki x

early to be dragging yourself out of bed on a Sunday morning!
If you have planned to travel down to watch I will hopefully
be finishing before 12 and in docklands bar and grill from about 1 onwards
if you fancy a drink! x
