I ran the 2011 Virgin London Marathon for Butterwick Hospice! Raised £2,040.77 inclusive of Gift Aid.

It was really hot. Over the years, I have ran nearly twenty 1/2 marathons, about the same for 10k runs and numerous other distances, all have been in normal weather conditions.
 
I have ran 3 full marathons and all 3 have been in really hot weather!
 
I didn`t get my target for a sub 4 hour 30 mins time due to the effects of the heat, but I did break 5 hours for the first time, I did it in 4 hours 50 mins and 51 secs!
 
It was a great day and really enjoyed it. My support staff on the day or

"TEAM-NORM"

as I like to call them were great!

Special thanks to my lovely wife Bev for all the love, support & the fundraising party. She has had to put up with six months of this and will have to put up with 6 further months of me talking about it!

Likewise, a massive thanks to Mike Phan & Odelle Hancock for the supermarket bagpack, pub quiz, personal coaching, accomodation & life saving skills at the end of the marathon!

A great thanks to my 4 kids, Olivia, Aaron, Isaac & Lewis for their support and to Ted and Jen for all their help, donations, support and baby sitting!

Also a big cheer out to friends and colleagues who helped and donated!

 

Next year? Not London, maybe somewhere another city though!

Butterwick Hospice Care aims to improve the quality of life for those who have a progressive life limiting illness and those close to them. To offer positive support for every challenge they may encounter during their illness and to see death as part of life's journey.

Adult patients are cared for at facilities based in Stockton and Bishop Auckland. Butterwick House Children's Hospice, also is also located in Stockton.

Admissions are made from Teesside, North Yorkshire, County Durham and Wearside.
