Story

A New Challenge...THE GREEN BELT RELAY

We are a group of runners/joggers from the Parish of Our Lady & Mount Carmel & St George, Enfield, MIddlesex (North London area). We have just taken part in Boston Marathon in aid of the St John Bosco Camp, a registered charity set up by the SVP. All money raised so far will provide holidays for the children at the project.

However we have a NEW CHALLENGE to help raise even more money for this special charity.  The challenge is to complete the GREEN BELT RELAY.

What is the Green Belt Relay?

The GREEN BELT RELAY is a 220 mile run for teams of 11 runners that takes place each year in May.
It starts from Hampton Court and circumnavigates London on towpaths, footpaths and quiet country lanes before returning to Kingston. The course is renowned for the spectacular scenery and interesting sites that it passes.
The stages vary in distance from 6 to 14 miles with teams of 11 taking part over 22 stages.

The money raised will help send children who are unable to have a holiday a chance for a break during the summer. St Vincent de Paul runs summer camps (St John Bosco Camps) for all children but the aim is to pay for children who are unable to afford to go. This holiday gives such children an opportunity to get away from their difficult circumstances at home. To run over 26 miles will be tough and possibly the biggest challenge we have set ourselves. However it would all be worthwhile if you could help support the work of this charity and give children a positive experience in their lives.

In our quest to raise money for this worthwhile cause I would be extremely grateful if you could donate online at:

www.justgiving.com/olsgboscorunners

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us and the John Bosco Summer Project  will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
