Story

The diagnosis of cancer in a child is terrifying for them and their family.  It's even more heartbreaking in the developing world where only one child in ten survives, compared to eight in ten in developed countries.

Child cancer is highly curable yet in the developing world tens of thousands of children die every year because of a lack of basic treatment, most without pain relief.  Poor diangosis, lack of resources, too few specially trained medics and the mistaken belief that child cancer is too difficult to cure, results in very few children being diagnosed and few surviving.

However, simple and inexpensive procedures for treating child cancer have been known to doctors for decades.  World Child Cancer facilitates the sharing of expertise between developed countries and low and middle income countries.  We help increase survival rates from 10% to 50% and though funding; we can provide effective palliative care and resources so that there is no need for any child to die in pain.

We cannot do this without your support and funding so we thank you for your kind and generous donation.

In low- and middle-income countries fewer than 1 in 10 children with cancer are diagnosed, treated or given pain relief. World Child Cancer improves cancer care for some of the world’s poorest children by creating international twinning partnerships between medics hospitals and parent support groups
