Story

Updated - 29th June 2010

The LD-T11 challenge was revisited on the 26th June commencing at 4:15 am from Wasdale Head campsite. It was successfully completed at 3:22 am on Sunday the 27th June finishing near Keswick at a place called Millbeck..

Don't want to say too much other than the team was much smaller and the pace extremely brisk. The walk was completed in 23 hours 7 minutes. It was very very tough with several pain barriers encountered.

Completed now so happy days.

:-)

Updated - 14th June 2010

The Lake District Top 11 challenge was abandoned some 23 hours into the walk having completed 9 of the planned 11 peaks.
Not very often you hear of a charity challenge failing - :-(
Tough is not the word I would use to describe what we tried to do.

A full update will be provided later this week.

thanks for your support.

From a positive perspective Macmillan Cancer Support will benefit from over £2,000 from what we tried to do.

Paul
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving web page dedicated to raising some hard earned cash for that brilliant charity - Macmillan Cancer Support.

The LD-T11 Challenge

The walk we have lined up is fairly extreme covering the top 11 Wainright peaks.

Distance is aproximately 44 miles.

Ascent and descent is approximately 5300m or 17,500 feet. Almost up and down two thirds of Everest in the same day.

Target time to complete the walk is approx. 24 hours, realistic time is nearer to 26 hours.

No cars, buses, balloons, helicopters, skateboards, etc. are used - all done from start to finish on foot.

Last year we did the Lake District Top 5 Wainrights starting at Wasdale Head completing enroute Scafell - - Great End - Helvellyn - Skiddaw with the walk finshing at Millbeck near Keswick. 34 miles, 3500m of ascent and descent - it was tough and eating sandwiches on top of Helvellyn at midnight was an exhilarating experience.

Anyway, back to the real reason for this website, getting some money raised for a brill cause.
