Me and members of my family are running a 10k on Saturday 4th April in memory of Nikki, who we sadly lost due to alcohol. This is something that means so much to all of us. Alcohol has affected our family in many ways, with other family members also struggling with alcoholism, and it’s something that has caused a lot of pain, heartbreak, and loss.

We want to do this not only for Nikki, but to help raise awareness and show support to everyone who is affected by alcohol — whether that’s personally, or through someone they love. This isn’t something only our family is going through. So many people are suffering in silence, and we want to help remind them that they are not alone.

It’s reported that around 2.6 million people worldwide have died due to alcohol in the last year. That number is absolutely heartbreaking, and it’s why we want to do something positive in the middle of so much sadness — to show love, support, and hope.

We’re running to support Alcohol Change UK and the incredible work they do, and to honour Nikki’s memory in the best way we can.
