Story

Holly Brand who sadly lost her battle with pulmonary hypertension on the 29th June 2023 at the tender age of 15. . Such a tragic loss of a beautiful soul. Her passing has left a profound impact on those who knew her, and the pain of her loss is still palpable for her family and friends.

While I did not have the privilege of knowing Holly personally, I have had the opportunity to work with her brother, Jack, and her father, Kev. The grief that has enveloped their family has deeply affected me, and it has made me realize the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing our loved ones. As a parent, I held my son's a little tighter that night, feeling immense gratitude for there well-being.

In light of this tragedy, I have been moved to take action and make a meaningful contribution to support the Brand family and honour Holly's memory. After speaking with Kev and Jack, they expressed their wish for any efforts to benefit Derain House Children's Hospice, which provided invaluable support to the family during and after Holly's passing.

With this in mind, I decided to undertake the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with the backing and support of Holly's family, We then reached out to the Brand's extended family to join us in this endeavour. The challenge presents an opportunity for us to come together, not only to pay tribute to Holly's life but also to raise funds for a cause that has been instrumental in providing care and support to families like the Brands. Well it didn't take long and now we have 20+ Family, Friends and ex work colleagues to take part in helping each other along to do this in Holly's name for Derain House Children's Hospice.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge will see us tackle the summits of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, covering a distance of approximately 24 miles within 12 hours. It is a physically demanding but incredibly rewarding experience, and I believe that together, we can make a meaningful impact.

Myself and the Brand family invite you to join us in this venture, whether it be as a fellow participant in the challenge or as a supporter contributing to our fundraising efforts. Your involvement will not only be a testament to the strength of community and compassion but will also make a tangible difference in the lives of those who are in need of support through Derain House Children's Hospice.

If you are unable to participate, your support in spreading the word about our initiative would be immensely appreciated. Every contribution, big or small, will help us in achieving our goal of supporting Derain House Children's Hospice and honouring Holly's memory in a meaningful way.

Personally am looking forward to embarking on this journey together and making a positive impact in honour of Holly and the Brand family.
