LimbPower offer relief to the physically disabled by aiding rehabilitation and improving the quality of life through the medium of recreational and competitive sports and arts, for the locomotor disabled.

Story

I joined the Opcare team in August 2023 working as a prosthetist/orthotist in Musgrave Park Hospital. In October 2024, I will be fortunate enough to travel to Peru along with a group of colleagues and service users to take part in the Inca Trail of Machu Picchu. We will be partaking to raise money and awareness for LimbPower.

LimbPower is a UK based charity, working to support individuals with limb difference and their families, bridging the gap between hospital rehabilitation and community and school engagement to rebuild lives and improve physical, social and mental well-being. They aim to increase engagement and inclusion of amputees and those with limb impairments, putting individuals in touch with the right sport and leisure activity for their needs/abilities.

We will set off from London on the 18th October, beginning the trek on 20th October by acclimatising to the altitude. We will hike for 8-12 hours per day, reaching the highest point of 4,500m. The trek will be covered over a total of 5 days walking.

Any donations are greatly appreciated and will go directly to LimbPower, allowing them to continue delivering their current services and develop new services requested by the users.
