Story
I will be raising money for Great Ormond Street in support of my lovely niece Scarlett, who is a patient there.
Scarlett is three years old now, and shortly before her first birthday began suffering from prolonged and complex seizures. After many months of testing, she was diagnosed with beta-propeller protein-associated neurodegeneration (BPAN).
In early childhood, symptoms of BPAN include seizures, delay in achieving developmental milestones and intellectual disability. This life-limiting condition however is progressive and with time (typically in adolescence or adulthood), affected individuals will deteriorate with symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
This condition is incredibly rare and there is currently no treatment or cure. Fundraising will help raise awareness and fund research at Great Ormond Street Hospital in the hopes that one day, there may be a cure.
Thanks for all your support x
