Story
Starting on April 19th I will be completing 3 Endurance Challenges in memory of our Beautiful Orla, whilst raising money for the amazing Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The challenge is called 3,2,1 and consists of 3 endurance challenges completed on consecutive weekends.
- For 3 we have 3 Mountains where I will be climbing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, which is a 24 mile round trip with a total ascent of over 5000 feet.
- For 2 we have 2 Marathons, and will be the most testing challenge. This consists of running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. This is just over 2 Marathons in 2 days without much sleep, and very little rest.
- For 1 Marathon, which is the famous TCS London Marathon which will be a testing 26.2 mile run through the heart of London.
The 3,2,1 challenge will be a real test of endurance, but its main purpose is to tell Orla's story, raise awareness for childhood cancer and raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital's Build it, Beat it campaign which is raising funds for a new children's cancer centre.
It’s hard to describe what Orla went through during her treatment, and even harder to explain how amazing, strong and courageous she was, but one thing is clear and that is Orla would not have got through half of it, if it wasn’t for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Great Ormond Street Hospital saved Orla's life on three separate occasions and gave her the best chance of surviving this horrible disease. The new children's cancer centre will offer new facilities and technology to patients, new research capabilities, dedicated critical care units and so much more.
All money raised from this challenge will be going towards Great Ormond Street's Built It Beat It campaign, and specifically towards a new patient room in the new children's cancer centre.
Each one of these rooms costs £350K, and we are aiming to fund an entire room in memory of our beautiful Orla to continue to build her legacy.
Please help us to continue doing amazing thing in memory of our beautiful girl.
