So, here I go...
I will be running the London marathon very, very soon! I had paid for a virtual place, never really believing it would actually happen! I still can't believe I am going to do this!
But, I will actually be running it in London, on the official route, only a little differently!
I will be running the 'Reverse London marathon', no, I will not be running backwards, but, I will be starting at a minute past midnight, running from the end of the London marathon route to the beginning! Hopefully! I will be finishing before the elite athletes start their marathon run in the morning!
I will be running with a small group, we are all self supporting, so there will be no water or feed stations, no crowds cheering us on with amusing banners, no bands, no medical support, no photographers and no sunshine!
we have to carry everything we need, cheer ourselves on, brave the dark streets of London through the wee small hours, and wait for weeks for our medals to arrive after the run details have been submitted. No lovely volunteers placing the medal around our necks and no after run parties and freebies!
But the point of this is not to earn a bit of bling or a snazzy t-shirt!
For me, the point is to raise money for Tŷ Hafan children's hospices. This charity supports children and their families through life limiting conditions.
My friend's family lost their beautiful little girl Mia to cancer aged just 6 years old. So it's a really, really big emotional challenge to go and do this in memory of Mia, a child of courage, who wanted to help other children with shorter lives.
Training is feeling really tough, pretty brutal, in fact! Right now I have an injury and may even have to walk it! I don't care if I have to crawl! But it's totally worth it if it helps children with life limiting conditions and their families!
I have been so very lucky to have so many lovely people support me, and donate to this amazing charity in memory of Mia, for both the firewalk and the trek up Yr Wyddfa/ Snowdon, and the Cardiff half marathon.
Thanks again to everyone who has sponsored me previously.
I totally understand that times are hard for so many people financially right now. If you are able to donate, even the smallest amount, then, please, please, please do!
Thank you so much,
Abbe Xxx
