Abbie vs Wainhouse tower (and claustrophobia!)

Abbie White is raising money for St. Augustine's Centre Halifax
Join the Mayor of Calderdale, Councillor Ann Kingstone, in an exhilarating abseil down the iconic Wainhouse Tower to raise money for her chosen charity, St Augustine's Centre Halifax.

Story

On April 12th (or 13th or 27th depending on the weather) I will join the Mayor of Calderdale to take fundraising to new heights—literally!

Alongside other volunteers I will be abseiling down the iconic Wainhouse Tower, all in support of the St Augustine’s Centre, the chosen mayoral charity.

For over 50 years, St Augustine’s Centre has been a beacon of hope and support for refugees, people seeking asylum, and vulnerable migrants in Calderdale. With warmth and compassion, they provide practical assistance, legal advice, education, and a welcoming community to help individuals and families rebuild their lives with dignity.

The Mayor has chosen this incredible charity because of the vital role it plays in making Calderdale a place of sanctuary and solidarity. In a time when so many people face hardship and uncertainty, the support St Augustine’s Centre provides is more important than ever.

Every donation, big or small, will help fund this life-changing work.
