On April 12th (or 13th or 27th depending on the weather) the Mayor of Calderdale is taking fundraising to new heights—literally!
Alongside a brave group of volunteers, the Mayor’s Consort (Dave Kingstone) will be abseiling down the iconic Wainhouse Tower, all in support of the St Augustine’s Centre, the chosen mayoral charity.
For over 50 years, St Augustine’s Centre has been a beacon of hope and support for refugees, people seeking asylum, and vulnerable migrants in Calderdale. With warmth and compassion, they provide practical assistance, legal advice, education, and a welcoming community—helping individuals and families rebuild their lives with dignity.
The Mayor has chosen this incredible charity because of the vital role it plays in making Calderdale a place of sanctuary and solidarity. In a time when so many people face hardship and uncertainty, the support St Augustine’s Centre provides is more important than ever.
Every donation, big or small, will help fund this life-changing work. Please support us and help make a real difference—your generosity will go a long way in offering a warm welcome and a brighter future to those in need.
Thank you for your support!
