Story
Epilepsy can be one of the most frightening and isolating conditions a young person can experience. The loss of any sense of safety, trapped in an unpredictable world, not knowing when their next seizure will happen. All this takes its toll on a child's mental and physical health, and they miss out. Under the age of 18, 1 in every 220 children live with epilepsy.
Our daughter Freya's courage and resilience in the face of the challenges that epilepsy presents is incredibly inspiring. In recent years, the charity Young Epilepsy (YE) have provided superb support and advice ('big shout out' to Alex Cox). This has made a significant difference to Freya (including support through her GCSEs and A levels) and she wants to 'pay it back'.
So Freya is running for the charity Young Epilepsy at the Royal Parks Half Marathon - 13.1 miles through the heart of London's most iconic parks on 12th October. I am very proud to be training with and joining her on the day, in support of this fantastic cause.
Please contribute whatever you can and help transform the lives of children and young people with epilepsy. Thanks for reading.
