We provide practical and emotional support to returning hostages and their families

Story

Kidnapping and illegal detention is a frightening experience, impacting not only the victim but also their family, friends, community and colleagues.

Hostage International is a unique charity, founded by in 2004 by Terry Waite CBE and Carlo Laurenzi OBE who recognised the gap in available support for families and former hostages. Hostage International provides confidential emotional and practical support to those affected by the kidnapping or illegal detention of a loved one, and to former hostages and detainees post release.

Having worked on the commercial crisis response side helping families affected by kidnaps, detention and extortion, I have seen the desperate situations that people experience. But Hostage International is a charity that helps fill the gap in support for families and former hostages at the worst possible time in their lives.

To raise money for this important charity I plan to walk The Pennine Way - often referred to as the 'spine of Britain' it was the first National Trail in England, a 268 mile long route running south to north from Edale to Kirk Yetholm on the Scottish Borders, and traversing the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, North Pennines, Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland and then the Cheviot Hills.
