Story
****now 15 marathons in 15 weeks****
Hello everyone,
I’m embarking on a challenge: 13 marathons in 15 weeks, culminating in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon on May 11th.
This includes:
11 consecutive weekly marathons (as of 04/04, 10 in 10 weeks completed, including 4 ultra marathons).
The final two will be the Manchester and Leeds marathons.
Rob Burrow is a local hero, and running in his marathon last year was unforgettable. This year, I can’t think of a more meaningful charity to support than the MND Association. Their work, from raising awareness to supporting the development of services for the Rob Burrow Centre, offering vital care to those battling MND and their families. In addition to the drive and fight that they have to find a cure.
In my adopted home of Huddersfield I have also been inspired by others who have raised awareness of MND by undertaking some amazing fundraising activities.
Having lived in Leeds nearly all my life this feels like such a special cause and to close the marathons in my hometown, in front of my family will be emotional.
I am giving everything to get these marathons completed.
As of 01/04 the amount donated has surpassed my expectations.
I read every message of support especially when I feel fatigued, tired or in pain. Thinking of my “why” and the encouragement from others spurs me on and gives me a purpose to get up and get out.
In a world that can often seem heavy, I’m finding light in the act of doing something positive, one marathon at a time
Very humbled.
Thank you on behalf of the MNDA.
