BHS Rideathon Challenge 2026 · 1 July 2026 to 31 July 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

This July, take on the Rideathon challenge and help protect the off-road routes that give you and your horse freedom and time out together. Every pound you raise and kilometre you cover helps keep the riding network open and usable for everyone.

Story

4 Counties - 500km - One Message: Protect Our Paths.

This July, I am taking on the BHS Rideathon with a massive target: to walk, ride, and cycle 500km in just 31 days.

To hit this milestone, I’m combining my professional world with my personal goals. My month will involve:

* Riding across all 4 counties in my patch as BHS Access Field Officer for the South.

*Trekking the hills during 5 days of supervising Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

*Bagging my final 2 Quality Mountain Days (QMDs) to finish my Mountain Leader qualification.

*Getting out and about on my bike with Tilly installed in her basket of course!!

Every single kilometre is dedicated to raising vital funds for the BHS Ride Out Fund—and I need your help to get across the finish line.

Why Your Donation Matters: The BHS Ride Out Fund

Our roads are busier and more dangerous than ever. Safe, off-road equestrian routes aren't a luxury; they are a lifeline. Yet, only about 22% of the rights of way network in England is open to horses, and much of it is fragmented or unusable.

The Ride Out Fund changes that. It funds vital projects to open up, restore, and repair safe off-road tracks.

Your donation directly funds grants that allow local volunteers and groups to:

*Clear overgrown paths that have become completely impassable.

*Repair severely damaged, flooded, or eroded bridleways.

*Replace heavy or unsafe gates with accessible, equestrian-friendly ones.

*Protect historical routes before they are lost to riders forever.

By supporting my 500km challenge, you are directly investing in the safety of horses and riders, keeping them off dangerous roads, and protecting our countryside trails.

500km is a massive push, but knowing we are securing the future of our paths will keep me moving. Any donation, large or small, makes a huge difference and please don't forget to share!
