Story
From 17th October I will be taking part in a 115 nautical mile paddle and 5 mile portage in a folding boat, going from 43 Commando Royal Marines to The Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge. This event will be raising money for the Royal Marines Charity.
The Paddle Group is dedicated to fostering mental and physical well-being through a supportive network and community, where serving and veteran members of His Majesty's Armed Forces can achieve their 'Green Reset.'
Using folding boats (Kleppers), we honour the legacy of WWII folding boat operators and other historical units by reviving their training and operational folding boat exploits, whilst promoting adventure, leadership, culture, and teamwork. Our mission includes providing training for both military and civilian organisations, fundraising for charity, and creating opportunities for self-development through kayaking expeditions.
Guided by the Commando qualities and values of cheerfulness, unselfishness, determination, courage, excellence, integrity, self-discipline, and humility, we offer an inclusive and judgment-free environment. As an independent branch of the Royal Marines Association, we welcome all members of the Armed Forces, both serving and veteran, whether they are experienced paddlers or new to the sport, to join us in our expeditions and events.
