Story
Thanks for taking a look at my Just Giving page!
On Thursday 28 March I set off on a 2 week hike that has been a year in the making, to tackle the infamous Cape Wrath Trail, with nothing but a tent and whatever I can carry on my back!
From Fort William to Cape Wrath Lighthouse, the most North-Westerley point of mainland Scotland, it's 380km of unmarked and remote Scottish Wilderness often regarded as the hardest long-distance trail in the UK,
On 9th March we sadly lost Ian Herbert, the Dad of one of my very best friends, Ally. When I discovered I wouldn't be able to attend his funeral due to already being on the trail, I decided to dedicate the hike to him as my own way of paying respects to a man I knew for over 35 years, and to raise some money for Strathcarron Hospice who looked after and cared for him on the last leg of his own adventure.
By sheer coincidence, I start this hike on the 6th anniversary of losing my own Dad, so this is a very meaningful challenge for a number of reasons.
Some further info about Strathcarron Hospice below:
As an independent hospice, Strathcarron cares for over 1,400 people every year at a time when both they and their family need it most. The Hospice philosophy is about living until you die and the team ensure people have every opportunity to achieve their goals right up until the last moment. To do this, the charity needs to raise raise over £14,635 a day to keep its services running.
Please support me as I challenge myself for Strathcarron Hospice. Just £24 can pay for one hour of nursing care and really will make a difference. Thank you.
