Story
On Sunday October 8th I am going to strap up the dodgy knee, knock back some painkillers for the dodgy back and ignore the dodgy shoulder as I run 10k at the Henley Half.
My mission is to raise funds for the daughter of me old chum Rich Pearce - Isla - and two charities that play a vital role in supporting her and other local children.
Despite being born with quadriplegic cerebral palsy due to an injury at birth, Isla's spirit and determination know no bounds. She loves to play and learn, and she is always working hard to improve her skills.
She is frankly inspirational.
The funds we raise will enable Isla to receive privately funded intensive therapies to help achieve her full potential. The more therapy and access to specialised equipment we can give Isla, especially in the formative years, the more we help her to reach her optimum potential and give her independence.
I have seen some of the therapies in action - it is amazing what can be achieved and I want to raise funds to help Isla.
I would be immensely grateful if you would consider donating to this wonderful cause. Your support will not only help my friends in their mission to assist Isla but will also support children facing similar challenges.
Isla is an inspiration to everyone to she meets. She shows us that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. She is a fighter and we are all very, very proud of her.
