Jacks fundraiser for Epilepsy Scotland

Alex Heggie is raising money for Epilepsy Scotland

Walk the forth road bridge · 28 March 2026

We are here for anyone with epilepsy, their families, carers and employers. We campaign for improved healthcare and an end to stigma, influence policies that will affect the health, educational and social welfare of people with epilepsy and provide quality information and support services.

Story

On the 21st September 2021 Jack was diagnosed with Focal epilepsy.

After going through tests and numerous hospital visits we finally had a diagnoses.

For a while prior to jacks diagnoses he would take only what can describe as daydreams, these were happening more frequently I spoke with his health visitor and we immediately contacted the GP and got Jack an app.

Before his app came Jack took a horrible seizure which ended in a trip to A&E. From then on was many hospital visits and testing.

Trying to explain to a 2 year old what was happening or going to happen was extremely difficult but he took it like a boss and just dealt with it all extremely well.

Seizures kept coming, time felt like it was slowing down and it felt like forever for a call from his DR’s.

Then we were on our wee holiday away and that’s when they called, Jack has focal epilepsy. We were scared we didn’t know how his life was going to be all these seizures, some being way worse than others we needed to learn a lot too.

Here we are fast forwarding to today 5th January 2026! Jack has dealt with his epilepsy like an absolute pro, takes his medication twice a day, he fully understands about his epilepsy and he does know he needs to be very careful (doesn’t stop him like) haha!

Jacks very Lucky because although he takes seizures they are thankfully not often unlike some people.

I spoke with Jack before Christmas and because we’ve had so much help from epilepsy Scotland in the past and still to this day, I wanted to give something back, so we have decided to walk the forth road bridge on the 28th March 2026.

Please if you can sponsor Jack that would mean the absolute world to us all! 💙
