Story

It’s official !

I am starting my first fundraiser for 2023 this year by taking on a 20 mile walk for Safeline.

This is my 3rd walk for this amazing charity.

This year myself, Archie and Chester will be joined by Rachael Stevens the Safeline development coordinator as we take in our steps for Safeline.

This year I will be meeting with each mayor in their borough. Each Mayor of Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Warwick and Stratford upon Avon and the High sheriff of Warwickshire will be showing support on the day as I take on 20 miles.

If you would like to support us and help us raise money for this amazing charity please donate on to our just giving page.

COVID had a devastating impact on young people and it has led to an exponential increase in the number of children who have experienced Child Sexual Abuse or are more vulnerable to it. Safeline is now receiving more referrals from people aged under 17 than adults to our face-to-face services in Warwickshire and Coventry. Our most recent figures for last year show:

62% of all new referrals to our Face-to-Face counselling service were from children and young people aged 17 and under

Referrals to our Prevention and Early Intervention services have increased by 127%

· 46% of all new referrals to our ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advocates) service were from Children and Young People aged 17 and under.

62.5% of these were aged between 13-17 years, 37.5% aged 12 and under.

56% of all crimes committed against Children and Young People involved Child Sexual Abuse, 38% rape and 6% sexual assault.

81% of all the sexual violence crimes committed against Children and Young People happened recently, 19% were historic abuse.
