Story
13 babies die every day in the UK before, during or shortly after they’re born. That’s around 4,500 babies a year. And at least 15% of pregnancies end in miscarriage. Thousands of bereaved parents very often are left feeling isolated by this painful experience - not knowing where to turn, or who to talk to.
As a society, we are ill-equipped when it comes to offering support. It can be hard to find the right words or know how to offer comfort. But whether you’re a family member, friend or work colleague to someone who is suffering this kind of loss, your actions can have a profound effect on the healing process.
Sands is on a mission; to break the silence around stillbirth and neonatal death, so nobody has to grieve alone. And Wilson is on a mission to help! (and shift a kilos or two in the process!).
During September Wilson is going to attempt to walk 100km (62m). That’s an average of 3.3km (2m) a day. For many dogs, that’s literally a walk in the park. For Wilson it’s his London marathon - without any training. His one walk up Rivington Pike has clearly gone to his head.
But he’s determined, and we will be tracking all his walks! Please donate whatever small amount you can spare to this wonderful charity, and help give Wilson the motivation he needs to achieve this almost ridiculous challenge.
You can follow his progress on his Instagram account @wilsonpugg. And if you see him on the streets of Southport in his Sands bandana - give him a beep!
Thank you 🙏🏻
