Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Alice and Jack Butterworth's JustGiving page.

We are running our first half marathon, the Robin Hood Half Marathon, on 29th September 2024 and we are raising money for an incredible cause - The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre at Nottingham Trent University as NTU Alumni.

The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre is a unique, purpose-built scientific facility in the East Midlands focusing on cancer research into diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. It is one of the UK’s leading cancer research facilities whose research focusses on the detection and treatment of cancer, specialising in blood cancers as well as colorectal, pancreatic and brain tumours.

Cancer now affects 1 in 2 people during their lifetime. This is a cause close to our hearts and we are running in memory of all of our loved ones affected by cancer.

With continued developments in preventative measures, faster diagnoses, tailored treatment and informed aftercare, the presence of cancer in our lives might remain inevitable — but the scale and devastation of its impact need not be.
