Story
Swim the river. Change a life.
This summer I’m taking on one of the UK’s wildest open water swims, a 10km cold water swim up the Mawddach Estuary from Barmouth to the George III.
When I saw the smile on Richy's face as he finished last year, I was determined to give it a go - especially as I had joined him for much of his training. We will both be swimming this year - on our 45th wedding anniversary! - and will be joined by our daughter Manon, who gave birth to her first child, Gwawr Elise, just before Christmas.
We will be raising money for Level Water - a charity that aims to provide 1-to-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities.
Swimming has always been part of my life, from family holidays spent by the waterside to the camaraderie and competition of Masters swimming, but this swim will be a true challenge. I am proud to be helping to provide the opportunity for others to access what is truly an activity for life.
Every £15 raised gives a child the chance to learn to swim. These lessons are joyful, empowering, and completely life-changing.
If you can, please sponsor me – it really will make a difference. Diolch yn fawr - thank you.
