I’m taking part in the Ashgate Hospice Sparkle Night Walk on Saturday 27th June 2026 in memory of my lovely brother Richard who died in January 2025 at the age of 50.

Richard was born with Down Syndrome. He also had autism and a severe heart condition. Despite all his health issues he lived a very fulfilled life, full of fun and mischief!

Towards the end of his life, the hospice local to where he lived (Dougie Mac’s in Stoke on Trent) provided valuable support to Richard and his care home and to us as a family. Their support allowed Richard to remain in his own bedroom throughout his illness and right up to the end of his life, something that was very important for him and all who loved and cared for him.

Every penny raised for my local hospice in Chesterfield will help to ensure that more families are provided with such vital support at the most difficult of times.
