Story
This July, I’ll be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours! I’m doing it in support of MS-UK, a charity very close to my heart.
Many of you may know that my running journey came to a sudden and unexpected halt last year. Running was a massive part of my life and I had no idea why my legs were no longer doing what they once could, it was so scary. I now know that I live with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Right now, I’m trying to understand what this means for me and what my future might look like. MS affects everyone differently, and that uncertainty is so overwhelming. Learning to live with the gap between what I want my body to do and what it can do has been one of the hardest parts of this journey so far. Climbing three mountains in 24 hours will be one of the toughest challenges I’ve ever faced, both physically and mentally. But that’s exactly why I’m doing it. I’m setting myself this huge challenge because I am determined to achieve something that not only makes me feel good again, but also makes my family proud, and helps so many other people that are also living with MS to feel empowered and supported.
To help me battle this challenge and reach the summit of each mountain, my amazing coach and friend, Sophie, is taking on the Three Peaks with me. She’ll be my rock throughout, supporting me physically when my body is pushed to its limits but also mentally and emotionally. I honestly don’t think I could face a challenge of this scale without her by my side. Multiple sclerosis (MS) can be a very debilitating disease and I feel incredibly lucky to be in a place where I’m still able to take on a challenge like this. Over the years, running has given me so many wins and I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved so far. Now, it feels like the right time to step into something new, exciting, and truly meaningful for both me and my family.
Signing up for the Three Peaks has already had a special impact at home. It’s helped my children understand more about MS and why fundraising matters so much. They’ve been so excited to help me fundraise and have even started joining me on walks to “train together,” which has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey so far. 💜 I’m so excited that my family will be there at the end of the challenge to celebrate this huge achievement with me.
I’m fundraising for MS-UK because I want to help ensure that other people living with MS can access vital support that makes such a difference. MS-UK provides services like a national helpline, accessible exercise classes for all abilities, trusted information resources and peer support groups so no one feels alone. MS-UK aims to empower those living with MS to lead healthier and happier lives.
MS-UK is an independently funded charity, which means every donation really does go a long way. 💜 What your donation can do:
· £10 can help ensure every call to the MS-UK helpline is met with a compassionate response, providing vital information and support to those in need - something that has helped me to accept and understand the changes my body is experiencing on a daily basis.
· £25 can support training for health and social care professionals, helping them better understand MS and provide more empathetic care.
· £50 can cover the cost of an accessible group exercise class, offering physical benefits, confidence, and a real sense of community.
Taking on the Three Peaks is a huge personal challenge for me but knowing it could help others living with MS makes every step worth it. The team at MS-UK are like my knights in shining armour and every penny I can raise for them will be worth its weight in gold.
I kindly ask you to consider supporting our journey by donating towards our target of £2,000 for this important cause by 2nd July 2026. Thank you so much for supporting me, MS-UK, and everyone affected by MS; it truly means the world. 💜
