Story
WHY:
Nathan Summersgill-Smith was an excellent player and such a kind hearted soul, with a tash to envy.
He was in the Royal Marines and served in Boat Troop 43. At only 28 years old, he was a father to little Noah, a husband to Amelia, a son, brother, friend and team mate to all at Colne & Nelson RUFC.
Nathan had developed an extremely rare and aggressive cancer called NUT Carcinoma. The cancer had developed, spread and taken over his entire body, and heartbreakingly, he passed away on Sunday 24th November just a mere five weeks after first falling ill.
The Royal Marines Charity have been a constant, supporting Nathans wife Amelia and little boy Noah through everything and anything. Offering support both emotionally and financially, they have dealt with all of the burdens and problems that come alongside the passing of a loved one.
Nathan has been a player at Colne and Nelson RUFC since 2021, a friend to everyone at the club, a constant smiling face and always offering his help with anything. It was a no brainer for us as a club to want to have an annual day in memory of Nathan, and give back to an amazing charity.
