Story
In November 2020, my great friend Claudio passed away at Moya Cole (formerly known as St Ann’s Hospice, Heald Green).

Who was Claudio? (Or as I like to call him: xuxu).

He was hands down one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He had the LOUDEST laugh ever.
It feels like he was always just "there" in my life, but we became really close friends around 2008. Some of the funniest moments of my life were spent with him. Our deep conversations, driving up and down together, his stupid jokes, his endless attempt for YEARS to try to teach me how to roll cigarettes.
Claudio LOVED a party and an after-party... he just went to this one a little bit earlier.
Why I'm Raising Funds: The Incredible Moya Cole Team
The team at the hospice was absolutely AMAZING. Every single person, from the medical staff and assistants to the kitchen. They are incredible.
The care and support they provided wasn’t just for Claudio; it was for his entire family. They made sure Claudio’s last days were as peaceful, dignified, and comfortable as they could be.
From my perspective, I can only say this: the team has the biggest hearts in the world. What they do every day is one of the hardest jobs imaginable, and they deserve all the praise and recognition. Anyone who works in an environment of constant goodbyes deserves all of our love, respect, and support.
How You Can Help
I am running this half-marathon to honour Claudio's memory and to give back to the wonderful people who looked after him when he needed it most. Hospice care is one of the most important options for people who are nearing the end of their lives.
Please consider donating to help me support Moya Cole so they can continue providing this vital, compassionate care to other families. Every little bit helps.
I will be running dressed as a Banana (Claudio's favourite fruit!).
