I'm taking part in the Yomp Mountain Challenge, raising funds for Dreamland Education Centre in Kimilili, western Kenya. I'm going to walk at least 20km or possibly even the marathon distance at the fell race on 14th June.

Since being diagnosed with cancer at the end of 2024, I've been keen to keep as fit as possible, and training to walk the Yomp seems an ideal target.

Luckily both the type of tumour (rare and special like me) and the treatment programme, aren't causing me many problems right now. So unless I am taken in for surgery before June, then I'll be Yomping.

I've been involved with IcFEM Dreamland Mission for a dozen years of more, and have visited Kimilili in Kenya on several occasions.

For over 20 years this amazing school has been a place where children are given a chance to thrive, learn, to be fed, and to play in a safe environment. Through the education the children receive, they have a chance of going on to secondary school and then potentially college or university. This is just a dream for many kids in this part of Kenya.

The school needs to make some major improvements and refurbishment of its facilities in order to meet growing demand. They plan to repair the main playground, refurbish a water storage tank and build a bigger kitchen and dining room, ready for an increased intake of students following changes to the Kenyan education system.
