Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for considering a donation to this great cause.

After a period away from longer-distance running and not thinking I would be able to do it again, I have been back in training: losing pounds in weight and, I hope, raising pounds in cash for the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation.

My inspiration is the Pye family, who I have had the privilege of meeting and watching work determinedly for this wonderful cause over many years, through fundraising efforts and thousands of hours of volunteering.

Steve Pye was paralysed by a virus when he was just 15 years old. He went to bed with mild backache and woke the following day paralysed from the chest down.

Although Steve was told he would never walk again, he worked tirelessly through an intensive rehabilitation programme, supported by his family and friends. He is now able to walk short distances with the aid of sticks.

The Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation is a charity that funds the most promising research into a cure for spinal cord injury and is working towards UK human trials in the very near future.

This research could be life-changing for thousands of people affected by spinal cord injury. Please show your support by sponsoring me and helping to change the future for many paralysed people.

Any donation will be greatly received. I will also be donating myself and covering the costs of taking part in this wonderful event, including charity shirts and other expenses, so my place does not cost the charity anything.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe, and your donation will be sent directly to the charity, making it an efficient way to give while saving time and costs for the charity.
