Story

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving Montane Spine Challenger fund raising page.

I only took up trail running a few years ago, not just for the fitness side of things but I needing something to help focus my mind mentally and nudge me out of some struggles I was having.

Running has become a joy and helped mentally has helped me so much.

After turning 50 I decided that I wanted to give myself a challenge, something to really focus my mind on. Having ran no further than a half marathon I thought maybe a full Marathon, until a good friend of mine gently nudged me towards joining them on the June 2022 Montane Spine Challenger, a 108 mile run along the Pennine way.

I have attempted the event twice now, sadly having to pull out in 2022 at 92miles and in 2023 at 62miles , I have learnt so much on the last two events and am determined not to be defeated and put this event to bed in 2024.

As part of this challenge I have also decided to go tea total for the next 10months until completing the event in June 2024.

Running has helped me so much and with this challenge I wanted to give something back to two special charities.

Hospice Care delivers person-centered Hospice at Home service across North Northumberland, offering practical and emotional care and support to adults aged 18 years and over, who are living with a terminal illness, requiring palliative input. Care is provided within a person’s home by our specially trained nursing team & healthcare assistants 365 days a year, day or night. Each year Hospice Care needs to raise over £850,000 and receive just 5% from the NHS - the rest we have to find from community fundraising, donations, and legacies.
