Hi my name is Angel and for my 21st birthday in two months time, I have decided to have my very long hair cut for charity! I will be donating as much of my hair (from below my waist to a bob) to Little Princess Trust whilst raising money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. I have chosen this charity as it holds a very special place in my heart. 

I have always had a fascination of the human body and of medicine and at 18 months old I declared I was going to be a paediatric doctor. My former dance teacher lived with Crohn’s Disease so it’s something I was always familiar with but it wasn’t until 2019 when the lovely Amy Dowden of Strictly Come Dancing spoke out about her life with Crohn’s that I really developed an interest in IBD and gastroenterology. Her brave and powerful story really moved me and after extensive research I went on to study Biomedical Science at Keele University and have recently written a dissertation of the effectiveness of immunosuppressants and biological drugs in achieving remission in adults with Crohn’s Disease which I earned a 1st for. My next steps are to hopefully secure a medical school placement to continue working towards my goal of becoming a paediatric IBD specialist and that’s where you all come in!

Every penny I raise through my hair donation will go towards funding life changing research into a cure for IBD, provide much needed support and guidance for those living with IBD and their loved ones, improving services and quality of care and help improve the overall quality of life for anyone affected by IBD. Right now, an estimated 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of and the real number could be almost double that so with your help we can continue to fight for everyone affected by Crohn’s and Colitis and improve diagnosis and treatment, and to fund research into a cure; to raise awareness and to give people hope, comfort and confidence to live freer, fuller lives.
