Anjali Behal is raising money for Step Out Mentoring

Snowdon Hike · 6 September 2025

Step Out Mentoring's 2025 challenge is to hike up Mount Snowdon with a group of 20 young people, volunteers and supporters. All to raise vital funds to support young people's mental health in South London.

Story

On the weekend of the 6th September 2025, I have made the regretable decision to climb to the highest point in Wales, also known as Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) but all in aid of a good cause!

Step-Out Mentoring is an early intervention mentoring organisation that provides support for children and young people in the heart of Southwark through outdoor based 1:1 mentoring and group workshops. The charity works with children and young people aged 8-18 who are disengaged with education and/or life.

Mentors, staff, supporters and even the young people they help will be taking on the challenge of climbing up Mount Snowdon. We will all be supporting each other over that weekend and for much of the group, it will be the first time hiking up a mountain - eek!

Why am I doing this?

Mentorship is something I benefitted from as a young person growing up. I've been able to see first hand the difference that having a consistent support makes to wellbeing, development, and confidence. Since moving to London, I've been reminded how important having a community is. Step Out creates this community through their supportive mentoring, events, and relationship-building.

It's a great organisation, doing really impactful work, and if you want to hear more about it, feel free to join me on one of my training walks!
