Thousands of young women and girls are faced with precarious sanitary conditions and environmental hazards. Lack of resources, mean they have neither the knowledge nor supplies to practice proper sanitation and hygiene, putting their health at risk.

Story

Throughout the refugee camps of Lebanon, thousands of young women and girls are faced with precarious sanitary conditions and environmental hazards. Due to a lack of resources, many of these women and girls have neither the knowledge nor supplies to practice proper sanitation and hygiene, putting them at risk for health issues and often preventing them from fully participating in activities like school and work. Menstrual health and hygiene are necessary for these women and girls to lead healthy and active lives, and will allow them to share this knowledge with generations to come.

Representatives will be visiting Lebanon in early April 2019. All donations go towards the purchase of the packs. Each pack contains: sanitary towels, scissors, nail clippers, tweezers knit comb, razors, creams, toothbrush and toothpaste.

The project partner on the ground, ANEERA, in partnership with UNICEF, aims at mobilizing these communities and sensitizing them to the personal risks involved.
